Ebo miniature gorillas are unclassified animals standing approximately four centimetres tall and weighing under nine grams. Their anatomy includes a sagittal crest and a silver-backed dominant male.[1]
Troops and building
Troops contain nine to fourteen animals. Their low mass requires near-continuous feeding during the day. Unlike a single-use nest, their structures are repeatedly occupied, roofed, partitioned and enlarged. Groups supplied with scrap wood and wire continue construction for months.
Trade ahead of survey
The earliest documented sale preceded the first survey record by nineteen months. Founding pairs sell for about $9,000, while a tank containing a functioning troop exceeds $40,000. The record describes ownership as illegal everywhere despite a continuing private trade. The wild Ebo population is estimated below four hundred; private holdings exceeded that number in June.
