Ball-lightning collapse masses form after luminous spheres detonate over city streets. Thirty-one appearances have been recorded since April 6th, including incidents in Bucharest, Chicago and Moscow.[1]
Formation and permanence
The spheres hold near second-floor height for one or two minutes in clear weather. After detonation, everything within thirty-seven metres collapses inward over about nine seconds and fuses into one standing mass. Contact remains fixed. Torch cuts close in less than a minute and diamond wire binds and breaks; no component or body has been removed.
Mass discrepancy
The Bucharest survey compared the structure with slightly over six hundred tonnes of material missing from the affected radius. It found a forty-kilogram deficit. The report supplies no destination for that difference.
Surviving signatures
Thermal imaging detects body heat inside every mass. The Chicago structure formed on May 2nd at Wacker and Wabash and initially contained forty-four distinct signatures; the later count is nineteen. The sites are fenced rather than dismantled. Moscow’s perimeter has been moved outward twice.
