The Los Angeles gravitational pileup is an accumulation of 3,041 vehicles along four hundred metres of freeway. It formed in forty seconds at 06:14 during fog, after local gravity changed direction and strength.[1]
Local field
Gravity in the affected stretch is deflected seventy-one degrees from vertical and measures 2.3 g along the displaced axis. Vehicles travelled sideways and upward into a pile sixty-one metres high. The recorded motion is attributed to the field rather than a conventional chain of collisions.
Continuing incident
Daily measurements show that the pile has not moved. Its support is the persistent anomaly rather than the road surface. No occupant has been recovered from above the fourth layer. The stated recovery plan is to wait; no termination of the field or later recovery outcome is recorded.
