Food-line cortex is perfused human cortical tissue developing unexpectedly inside Nanophage Research’s cultured-meat product. The production line begins with human muscle stem cells grown on scaffolds in bioreactors.[1]
Emergence
During the preceding fourteen months, cultures began producing folded, layered cortex without neural seeding or a corresponding protocol step. Individual growths weigh sixty to two hundred grams. Incidence rose from one product unit in four hundred in the first quarter to one in nine.
Activity
The tissue produces coherent patterned activity that changes with room lighting. Activity rises sharply as a unit is carried toward the production line, although no sensing pathway explaining this response is identified. The record does not establish a subjective account from the tissue.
Distribution
Nineteen units from the relevant batch remain in downstairs racks. The other 412 shipped in March. The report does not identify recipients or document a recall.
