The Ronne lunar doorway is an opening on a decommissioned utility level beneath an abandoned station on the Ronne Ice Shelf. The Moon appears immediately beyond its frame and illuminates the corridor.[1]
Threshold measurements
The lunar body fills the doorway despite measurements retaining its ordinary distance of 384,400 kilometres. The retained observations do not reconcile its apparent proximity with that distance. Sampling reads −170 °C on the far side, while the corridor two metres back remains at −18 °C.
Signal transit
A radio signal sent through the opening returns after 2.56 seconds, matching a lunar round trip at light speed. The opening is described as one step deep. Repeated tests preserve the full delay; the path taken during the interval is unknown.
